Lao karatedo team gears up for international events

The Lao Karatedo Federation will continue to work with martial artists to improve their skill levels and raise their standards ahead of international and national competitions taking place this year and next.
After returning from the South East Asian (SEA) Games in Vietnam last month, the Lao karatedo team will train in Vientiane for the National Games taking place in Xieng Khuang province in December, in which karatedo teams from provinces and ministries will participate.
In addition, nine male and four female fighters from Laos will compete in the 20th Asean University Games to be held in Ubon Ratchathani province, Thailand, in July and August.
The federation will provide further training for martial artists in the heavyweight and other categories to compete in the kata (dance) and fighting events at the next edition of the SEA Games in Cambodia next May.
The Lao karatedo team won a silver medal at the SEA Games in Vietnam.
The team placed seventh place with two bronze medals at the 9th Southeast Asia Karate Championship hosted by Cambodia in March.
In 2019, the Lao karatedo team won two bronze medals at the SEA Games in the Philippines.
