Lao women win sepak takraw doubles event at World Champs

The Lao women’s sepak takraw team have won the women’s premier division doubles event at the King’s Cup 2022 Sepak Takraw World Championship in Bangkok, Thailand, which took place from July 24-31.
In the final round, Laos beat Indonesia 2-0 (21-18, 21-19), giving the team a historic victory in women’s sepak takraw.
Myanmar and Malaysia took bronze medals in the women’s doubles.
In the final of the men’s doubles, Laos lost to Malaysia 1-2 (24-25, 21-14 and 18-21) and took the silver medal, while Myanmar and Indonesia both won bronze medals.
The King’s Cup comprised 11 events, including men’s and women’s team hooping sepak takraw, men’s and women’s doubles, men’s and women’s team events, men’s and women’s singles, and other categories. 
Sepak takraw teams from 23 countries took part in the competition.
