Mr Saysamone Sayasone speaks about the activities of the Muay Lao Federation in Vientiane on Tuesday.

Muay Lao Federation to hold great activities

The Muay Lao Federation will organise and participate in several activities at the national and international level this year to encourage greater interest in the sport in Laos.
These activities will include the Super Muay Event at the international level next month, which will be supported by Max King, the pre-South East Asian Games (SEA Games) to be hosted by Cambodia in November, and a Muay Lao event that will be part of the 11th National Games to be hosted by Xieng Khuang province in December.
The Super Muay Event will be held at the national circus rink in Vientiane, and it will be attended by the best kick-boxers from Japan, France, the Asean region and other countries.
Two years ago, the Federation was not ready to hold the Muay Lao event because of the Covid-19 outbreak around the world.
The Muay Lao event will begin in September and it will then be held every month.
This Muay Lao event will be co-organised by the Lao Federation and Max King with support from the makers of an energy drink.
The President of the World Muay Federation and Muay Lao Federation, Mr Saysamone Sayasone, said Lao fighters will be fully fit and prepared for competing in this event.
Mr Saysamone said, “We will select the best fighters of Laos to vie with Thai fighters at the Muay Lao event.”
Many Muay Lao clubs in Vientiane and in the provinces will train talented fighters so that they can compete in the event next month. Max King will give away the prizes to the winners.
The Lao muay team won two gold medals in the men’s 51-kg and 57-kg categories, one silver medal in the men’s 54-kg and one bronze medal in the men’s 60-kg categories at the 20th Asean University Games held in Udon Ratchathani province in Thailand from July 26 to August 6.
Mr Saysamone praised the Lao fighters who won medals at the games in Thailand.
The Muay Lao Federation will continue to support gold medallists in the men’s 51-kg and 57-kg divisions to compete at the SEA Games in Cambodia in 2023 after testing their skills at the pre-SEA Games in November.
