Sports complex planned for Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone

A brand new sports centre is under construction in the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone in Tonpheung district, Bokeo province, after a stone-laying ceremony was held on September 23.
The sports complex is a new addition to the recreational facilities already in existence in the Zone, which can be used by visitors.
The stone-laying ceremony was attended by the Deputy Governor of Bokeo province, Mr Khamphaya Phompanya; Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone, Mr Zhao Wei; and senior officials from various organisations.
Construction will take place in two phases. The first phase will see facilities built on an area of 30 hectares, which will be divided into two sections measuring 150,000 square metres and 10,000 square metres.
The sophisticated complex will be able to host basketball, volleyball, tennis and football matches at the national and international levels and will have 3,000 to 3,500 seats.
It will also incorporate a shopping centre, car parks and other amenities. 
The second phase of construction will build facilities on a 90,000 square metre site with 2,000 to 2,500 seats. There will also be a swimming pool and spectator area measuring 10,000 square metres and having 3,000 to 3,500 seats, while a hotel, shopping precinct and apartments will be built on a 40,000 square metre site.
The complex will have green spaces and a small public park. It will provide activities for children and there will be a water garden and other interesting features.
It is envisaged that the complex will be a centre for entertainment while also facilitating business activities, including an exhibition space and a vehicle showroom, and will be a showcase for sports education.
