Her fans know that Daomayouly is accomplished in wushu, kickboxing and other martial arts, and will be out in full support of her efforts when she takes to the ring at the SEA Games.
In the meantime, she is boosting her fitness levels with a punishing training regime that includes jumping, dancing, long jumps, gymnastics and other activities, to build up her muscles and give her extra power.
She and other members of the wushu team are being closely monitored to ensure they achieve the necessary fitness levels after months of inactivity when all sporting events were cancelled because of the Covid pandemic.
Last month the wushu team trained at the Chao Anouvong stadium in Vientiane and this month are working out at the National Sports Training Centre.
The team of five male and two female wushu fighters in various weight categories have got their eyes firmly mixed on medals and hope to return home with a good haul.
Laos’ martial artists have not undergone regular training over the past two years and did not take part in any national or international level competitions in 2021 because of the Covid outbreak.
Daomayouly is banking on her earlier successes which saw her win silver and bronze medals in international kickboxing events a few years ago.
She also competed at the 18th Asian Games in Indonesia in 2018.
After returning from Vietnam, her next goal will be to train for the 11th National Games, which take place in Xieng Khuang province in December.
The Lao wushu team won three bronze medals at the last SEA Games, which was held in the Philippines in 2019.
