Lao Football Federation outlines plans for 2022

The Lao Football Federation (LFF) plans to provide more support for football this year, officials said during an online meeting on Saturday to summarise work undertaken in 2021.
This year the Federation will oversee the Lao Premier League 2022 competition, with eight clubs taking part.
In addition, the LFF Cup 2022, U-12, U-18, and League 2 matches will take place around the country.
There will also be U-17 events for boys and girls, a futsal competition for male and female teams, national football events for men and women, a training course on club licensing, a training course on the registration and management of FIFA Connect and FIFA CMS and other events in Vientiane, and an international level training course for referees.
The LFF will provide D level training courses for football trainers in the provinces from March to October.
There will also be a course for futsal trainers in Vientiane and the provinces from June to September.
The online meeting at the Federation’s office was led by LFF President Mr Viphet Sihachakr and attended by representatives of provincial football federations and other bodies.
The Federation outlined a budget for its work this year and its plans were agreed to by provincial football federations.
In addition, the LFF will prepare a national men’s football team to compete at the 31st South-East Asia (SEA) Games to be held in Hanoi, Vietnam, in May, the AFF Suzuki Cup in December, and the Asian Games in Hangzhou in September.
A Lao team will also compete in the AFF U-16 Championship from August 6-20 and the AFF U-19 Championship from August 20 to September 4.
A team will also compete at the AFC U-17 Asian Cup qualifiers from September 10-18 and the AFC U-20 Asian Cup from October 1-9.
A women’s team will compete at the AFF Women’s Championship in the Philippines from August 28 to September 11.
Girls will compete at the AFF U-15 Women’s Championship from July 2-16 and the AFF U-18 Women’s Championship from July 16-30.
The Lao Football Federation was unable to arrange events for junior footballers last year because of the Covid-19 outbreak.
